My journey into sensory-based tools began almost 20 years ago. I vividly remember watching a music therapist work with a group of children and adolescents with Down’s Syndrome. Through rhythm and sound, something remarkable unfolded: children who struggled with daily actions suddenly clapped in time, joined in, and expressed themselves freely. The sensory rhythm unlocked a world of participation that had seemed unreachable. That powerful, life-changing experience set me on my sensory journey — exploring how texture, rhythm, pattern, and mindful activity can help us to connect, regulate, and thrive.

At Calm & Cozy, we create handcrafted tools that support calm, comfort, and focus. Our products are not toys — they are mindfully designed resources that help children, teens, and adults develop healthy coping mechanisms, both in therapy and at home. As a counselling psychologist, I have spent many years working with children and families navigating Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, anxiety, and other challenges.

 

A common question parents ask is: “What can we do at home to help our child?” Calm & Cozy was born as a way to answer that — providing practical, sensory-friendly resources that parents can use as part of the therapeutic process. These same tools extend beyond childhood. Teenagers and adults also benefit from grounding, calming, and sensory activities, especially when building resilience and learning new ways of coping. Each product is crafted to invite mindfulness, encourage self-regulation, and spark a sense of comfort.
